We have been biodynamic gardening since 1997, and started farming with the same principles soon after.
Border Farm produces and specializes in - berries/ winter squash, herbs, raw goat milk/ cheese, and both quail and duck eggs.
During our growing season we also invest a great deal of time into educational classes and tours.
Our current Border Farm is a natural rearing and biodynamic farm. While we support the health of our soil, and the nutrient dense food that we grow and raise, we also treat our animals with care, and give them a species appropriate life. For more on BIODYNAMIC PRINCIPLES.
We host hundreds of people every year with our tours, potlucks, classes, and harvest markets. We hope you can join us!
If you would like up-dates on - recipes, farm life, tours, news, our animals, and products, please join our NEWSLETTER. psst - it gets pretty awesome during kidding season!
If you would like to see what we do behind the scenes, check out our VIDEOS.

Owning a farm means you do a lot of what you know and learn how to figure out the rest. There is no end to projects, animal care, purchasing, growing, irrigating, and then taking care of my human family.
I have created a farm that feeds the animals, that feeds the soil, that feeds our family, and now beyond. We are full circle, as nature intended.
For the past five years we have been a nursery in all sense of the word, with plants and animals. I have tended to and assisted in all of our animals births, and I am raising animals from day one in a species appropriate environment, that is chemical free, with optimal nutrition.
From training my dogs and packgoats, to milking my goats, butchering our quail, collecting eggs, and watering our gardens, my days are super busy, but I wouldn't want it any other way.
My farm and my family are everything that I have ever dreamed of.
I grew up in Wyoming and Montana, the mountains around us were my playground. I had a rich outdoor upbringing, and learned to work with the natural world around me, instead of against it.
I have a formal education in Ceramics/Earth Sciences, and a hands-on education with food production, fencing, and ranch/farm work.
I have been fortunate to have experience with a sheep operation in southern Colorado - assisting in lambing, maternal care, sheering, and wool sales. And I have also worked on a regenerative cattle/bison ranch in Montana - focusing on rotational grazing management, soil health, and optimal forage nutrition.
In my spare time I am a competitive trail runner, and I am learning the art of Brazilian Jujitsu, and surfing in Mexico in the spring.
I grew up in the garden and on the trails and backroads of Montana, eating fresh food and exploring.
Currently, I spend my time traveling between Montana, Utah, and New Mexico, working primarily with artisan earthen and lime plaster finishes.
My life is a hands-on education in art- sculptural creations, functional reactive building, natural building techniques, lithography, and tattoo.
My interests range far and wide but generally center around the basics- shelter, food, water, movement; how to incorporate and celebrate these on and off the farm.
When I am on the farm, I assist in building projects, tending to the compost, and helping with garden and animal upkeep. I'm learning more about pack goat training, general goat care, and garden design.
Off the farm, I am running, moving, climbing, dancing, learning how to forage, building with friends, and exploring the world.
I am a journeyman finish trim carpenter, welder, framer, and furniture maker by trade. I also spent years as a small engine mechanic.
On the farm I take care of any of the structural needs, right down to electricity and water, as well as vehicle maintenance, and help with the heavier lifting.
I seem to be spending more and more time building housing for our animals, or re-imagining the housing I have already built to be more functional for changing needs.
I try to use recycled materials were I can. The first structure I built out of found scrap material when we moved here was our Quack Shack, that turned into a fort, that is now our main greenhouse and flight pen, and where our ducks still reside at night. Still my favorite structure.
I have almost fully perfected palette framed structures for our goats, from birthing stalls, to goat patios, and the milk-salon.
